In an era of globalization and remote working, freelancing is an excellent option for people who want to gain flexibility in their lives. In addition to offering a high income potential, it gives individuals the freedom to choose their own hours and travel.
One of the greatest benefits of freelancing is that it allows people to work from anywhere they wish, as long as they have access to a computer. This is especially useful for those with children or elderly parents who need to be taken care of during the day.
Another major benefit of freelancers is that they are usually paid by the project, rather than an hourly rate. This allows freelancers to set their own budgets and make a living from whatever projects they are most interested in taking on.
Many professionals find that working as a freelancer can be a lucrative career choice, often bringing in twice the amount of money that they would make from their full-time jobs. This is a huge change from the traditional job structure, where the only way to increase your earnings is to work more hours or go into a different field.
Freelancers have the freedom to say no to clients and projects that aren’t a good fit for their skills, interests, or moral standards. This is a huge pro for freelancers because they don’t have to be forced into working with clients they’re not comfortable with or who have unrealistic expectations.
Self-development
When you are a freelancer, it’s your responsibility to develop your own skills and learn new ones, so that you can offer better services to your clients. This can help you earn more and grow your business over time, if you decide to take on more projects or charge higher fees.
Difficult conversations
There are often more difficult conversations in freelancing than in a traditional employer, like negotiating pay, discussing scope creep, and conducting interviews. While this can be a good thing, it also means that freelancers have to be able to manage themselves and work through their frustrations.
No commute
The most common reason for job seekers to choose freelance work is that they can avoid a long commute. In fact, 61% of freelance job seekers in our survey said that they wanted to be able to work from home or a remote location whenever they needed to.
This is a great benefit for those who have children or pets that need to be taken care
of during the day, as well as anyone who needs extra time off during the week or on weekends.
No office dress code
On FlexJobs’ Work Unlocked podcast, many top freelancers talk about how much they value the ability to work from home without having to dress up for every job interview or get dressed up for meetings. This allows freelancers to relax and focus on their work in an environment that’s more conducive to productivity and success.
